It started with Nemo.
Nemo is is the sweetest cat at home. She purrs like an engine when she sleeps with us, follows us from room to room, and loves lying beside us while we work.
But take her somewhere unfamiliar and she becomes a different cat entirely. At the vet, the groomer, or around strangers, she hisses, hides, and wants nothing to do with anyone. Some people call her "spicy" or "fierce", like she's difficult by nature.
She isn't. She's just scared.
When she doesn't know what's happening or feels exposed, she panics. She's sensitive, a little anxious, and happiest when the world around her feels safe. So instead of trying to change that about her, we wanted to make things a little comfier for her.
That experience with Nemo made us think more about the way cats experience everyday care, not just at the vet or groomer, but at home too.
When we started talking to friends with cats, one thing kept coming up: grooming gets put off. Nail trims get delayed, brushing gets pushed to another day, and everyone feels a little guilty about it. Not because we don't care, but because a "quick" session can easily turn into two people, a lot of wriggling, and a cat disappearing under the bed. Now imagine doing that with three cats, or five, around a full-time job.
That's when Purrttie started to take shape.
We wanted to find better ways to make everyday care feel gentler for cats and easier for pawrents, so giving them the care they deserve feels more doable, more often.
And really, that's all our slogan has ever meant.
